More than 10 customers have signed up for Truth API, a new service from Trump Media that gives financial firms faster access to market-moving posts published on its Truth Social platform.
The service, launched in early August, provides Wall Street traders with early access to posts from some of the social media platform’s most influential accounts, including posts that could potentially affect financial markets.
High-Frequency Trading Firms Among Early Customers
Trump Media interim Chief Executive Officer Kevin McGurn said during an earnings call that more than 10 customers had signed up for the service.
Most of the initial customers are reportedly high-frequency trading firms, which are being charged between $60,000 and $100,000 per month for access to Truth API.
The service is designed to provide subscribers with information from Truth Social before it becomes widely available, potentially giving traders an advantage when responding to market-sensitive posts.
Service Raises Legal and Ethical Questions
The launch of Truth API has sparked questions over the legal and ethical implications of providing paying investors with faster access to posts from Truth Social.
The issue has attracted particular attention because US President Donald Trump frequently uses Truth Social to make public statements, while members of his family remain majority shareholders in Trump Media.
Critics have questioned whether the company should be able to generate revenue from providing faster access to statements made by the president.
Trump Media Reports $238 Million Quarterly Loss
The development comes as Trump Media and Technology Group reported a $238 million loss between April and June, more than 10 times the loss recorded during the same period a year earlier.
The company, which has yet to report an overall profit, has expanded beyond its traditional social media operations into areas including cryptocurrencies and clean-energy investments.
Despite the large quarterly loss, the company reported $1.7 million in revenue, an 89% increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
Crypto Losses Weigh on Results
Trump Media said its overall financial performance was affected by a decline in cryptocurrency-related assets.
The company ended the second quarter with approximately $2 billion in total assets, including around $1.9 billion in financial assets such as cash, short-term investments and digital currencies.
Company Seeks New Revenue Streams
Trump Media said Truth API is expected to become a new source of revenue as the company refocuses on its social media business.
McGurn said the service could develop into a meaningful and durable revenue stream, alongside advertising and digital assets.
The company is also exploring potential partnerships and opportunities involving technology companies, news organisations and betting markets.
Trump Media Continues to Diversify
The company has increasingly expanded beyond social media, with investments and initiatives involving cryptocurrency holdings and clean-energy projects.
However, executives indicated that the company is looking to strengthen its core social media operations while developing additional businesses capable of generating sustainable revenue.
The growing adoption of Truth API marks another step in Trump Media’s strategy to monetise Truth Social and turn the platform’s influence into a broader commercial opportunity.
